This is something that came to mind when reading the Tom Tomorrow article.
If any website posts potentially damaging or offensive material, contact the host's abuse center. Almost all web hosts have strict terms regarding abuse. A clip from Tripod:
You agree that you will not use Lycos Network Products and Services to:
Upload, post, email, otherwise transmit, or post links to any Content, or select any member or user name or email address, that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, libelous, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, hateful, or racially, sexually, ethnically or otherwise objectionable.
Now, I'm not saying go off on every guy who gets on your nerves. That's just stupid; sometimes people need to vent. But if you see any demoralizing, damaging, demonizing web sites, report them. The link that posted images of so-caled "traitors" is no longer up, probably because someone contacted their abuse center.
But be responsible about it, please. I trust that everyone can be mature about it to not go and report every website they disagree with. Okay? Promise? Just the ones that actively seek physical abuse, is what's best, or ones that report personal information.
